We spent Christmas in York this year and were so excited to have our entire G-willie family together for the first time in 2 years... how much we've changed as a family since then! And in particular...
We arrived in York on the 23rd, and the cousins didn't miss a beat in getting reacquainted and having lots of fun!

Why Pierre and Liam shed their shirts, the world may never know! After running around like this for a while, they settled into coloring together upstairs... still shirtless.
Christmas Eve was also Augustin's 1st birthday (!), so GG came over to join in the festivities. Aunt Erin, me, GG, Aunt Jackie, and Colin (and Lilly too) just hanging out:

The birthday boy got an ice cream cake- yum! He was too cute, and we were so happy to be able to be there with him to celebrate his very special day.
Liam really loved reading stories with his older cousins. Sarah is an awesome little reader and was so sweet to read to him before bed.
Since it was Christmas Eve, though, we had some special events to add to the bedtime routine. First was singing some Christmas carols with Nana at the piano.
Next, Grandpa read us "The Night Before Christmas".
And then it was time to leave a note for Santa with some milk and cookies. Sarah served as scribe and asked both Pierre and Liam what they'd like to include in the note. When it was Liam's turn, he simply replied, "Um, sorry?" We laughed out loud! No such thing as "too little, too late" in Liam's little world!! He also "wrote" his own note off to the side.
That night, Santa brought us not only gifts and special treats...
... but a terrible stomach flu to half the household!!
I will not go into detail, namely because I don't wish to remember the events that transpired... nor do I believe anyone else who was involved would wish to remember... nor do I believe anyone who reads this would ever wish to know, but suffice it to say that poor Nana, Aunt Erin, Sarah, and Pierre were sick. Really sick.
Forget Blue Christmas, we had a Flu Christmas.
And for the rest of us? Quietly but surely, Christmas. Must. Go. On.
I have to hand it to my poor sick family... they definitely tried. But when you feel like this-
-about all you can do is curl up in your festive socks and wish for better days.
We opened presents a few at a time, and whoever felt well enough joined in when they could. Joergen opening his very first gift and snuggled right up to his new bunny lovey from Santa
After spending literally years on Dad's Christmas wishlist, the elusive Christmas Sweater finally made its way under the tree. WIN!
Wearing one (sized 12-month) Santa suit combined, Liam and Joer were so cute playing together:

Liam wore that ridiculous Santa suit in earnest that day, answering only to "Santa" as he passed out gifts to everyone-- who then had to pass it back to "Santa" to please give to the acual intended recipient!
He paused from his Santa duties only to don his new snow gear from Nana and Grandpa. He opened the box exclaiming, "THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!!" and insisting that it was snowing and he needed to put everything on now now now!
On Christmas night, Uncle Tim, Aunt Jackie, and Colin (who sadly had not escaped Flu Christmas either...) joined us, and the three little guys opened their gift from us together-- matching long johns with their names on the butts! Yes, I'm that aunt!
But seriously... what could be cuter than this?!
It makes me so sad to think that the next time these three are together again, they'll no doubt all be walking. I just want to stop time for a little while...
Well, although Christmas wasn't exactly what we thought it would be this year, it was most definitely one we will never forget. The greatest gift was without a doubt the joy of Colin and Joergen's first Christmases and the time we spent together!
