Nine months old already?!
Joergen turned 9 months old the day after Christmas, and it was within that same week that we started noticing our little man make the shift into "older baby"-- and in particular a new-found interest in, well, everything! He is inquisitive and curious but no longer content to be that from afar; he wants in on the action.
Because of the holidays, we had to wait almost 2 weeks after the 9-month mark to get him in for his check-up. At 28 inches and just over 21 pounds, he's grown almost 2 inches from his 6-month check-up and gained exactly 2 pounds. He's still comfy in 12-month clothing (although really prefers to not wear clothing at all if he doesn't have to!).
Joergen loves to "talk", which generally consists of him yelling happily while flailing his arms (in almost a "wax on, wax off" manner-- hilarious!). He's also figured out how to clap his hands, and will enthusiastically do so, usually while also happily yelling. This then prompts Liam to "talk" back to him by imitating the yelling. Together they are loud and noisy and funny, and I love it.
While Grandma, Papa, Toni, and Aidan were visiting us right after Christmas (post coming soon!), Joergen started holding himself while standing. We especially credit his cool Christmas present from Uncle Andrew and Aunt Beth for this little milestone:
He loves that thing!
Joergen's other big news: he's finally crawling! He had been getting up on all fours for a while, and even making some backwards movement, but he finally got heading in the right direction on New Year's Eve (sneaking the milestone into 2011!). He now "revs up" on all fours, but then drop down on his belly and fires off in an army-crawl. And he's a determined one, too-- usually fixating on one thing (often something he shouldn't have to begin with), and no matter how many times you redirect him, he's right back to it within seconds. I included a short video of him in action, but don't mind Liam's yelling throughout this-- he thought I was trying to take Joergen's picture, so he's standing behind me waving his arms like a crazy person trying to get him to look up and smile!

A post about Joergen at 9 months old would not be complete without mentioning one of his absolute favorite things to do: rough-house. For as gentle and unassuming as he generally is, this kid loves rough-and-tumble play! This is clearly a point of bonding with Liam, whose entire existence is based on rough-housing and finding physical outlets for his energy. All it takes is for one of us to call "MONKEY-PILE!!" and the boys are both laughing hysterically while leaping on the intended victim.
"Monkey-pile on Liam!"
