Fall Fun

Despite some erratic weather, we have really been enjoying the fall season and all the festivities that come along with our favorite time of year.  College football!  Pumpkins!  Cider!  Leaf piles!

We went to Merry Mead Farm one weekend in early October to go in search of our pumpkin.  It had been unbelievably rainy for weeks leading up to our visit, so we stuck to the little "bumpkin" pumpkins rather than the big ones-- which we were fairly confident would be a rotten mess by the time Halloween rolled around.  Liam was pretty indiscrimnate, however, and just liked looking through the hundreds of pumpkins for "HIS."

He ended up finding his perfect little pumpkin, and then was nice enough to also pick one out for his little brother:

A couple of weeks later, during a random heat wave, we met up with Marc, Cathleen, and baby Julianne at Maple Acres Farm to cut some zinnias, explore the farm market, and yes-- get our pumpkin!  It has finally dried out enough to convince us that now was the time.  (you see, one must be fairly strategic about pumpkin-timing...)

Joergen picked out his favorite right away (perfect shot of the backwards-mullet/George McFly hairdo, by the way!):

Liam, however, liked them all!

They settled on the winner and loaded up in the wagon to take it home:

One of the farm employees asked Liam if he'd like to "drive" the tractor before we left.  Um, would he?!  Look, Grandma-- it's even the right color!!

Back at home, the boys got pretty into scooping out the pumpkin-guts and carving it just right:

Taa Daa!!

We also had lots of fun at the fall festival at Daddy's work.  They had a pumpkin patch for kids and a station for decorating them, live music, giant bubbles, crafts, and all kinds of yummy fall food.  They even had a fire truck there where they gave out coloring books and fire hats.

And after all that fun, I end up with two tired little boys.  I caught this pic the other morning with my cell phone.  Joergen conked out after an early-morning feeding, and Liam crawled into our bed shortly afterwards only to fall back asleep with his brother.  Moments like this make my heart happy...
