Oreland 5k

A few weeks ago, Cathleen saw a sign advertising the Oreland 5k, a neighborhood run to benefit a young boy from Oreland with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), the same disease that our best little buddy Brigid has battled since she was just a toddler.  With one email blast and three miraculously open schedules for the race day, we had a date with two of our favorite families!  We met ahead of time at Marc and Cathleen's house for a cup of coffee and some play time.

Julianne, Kara, Brigid, Liam, and Joergen

It was a bit of a hike to the race site for little legs, so Liam hitched a ride with Brigid (with thanks to her dad for the lift!).

Team D checked in, bibs on, and ready to race!

On your mark, get set, GO!  Ok, maybe not that fast.  Wait up, Liam...

Liam soon found his stride with Brigid, and off they went!  These two just make my heart happy.

About a third of the way through, Liam sat down on the curb and said, "Let's have a snack!"  So I gave him a graham cracker and Marc gave him a ride.  Another dad to thank for a lift-- quite literally this time!

All together at the finish line:

Kara (the birthday girl!), Liam, and Brigid sharing some soft pretzels:

After some lunch and some time at a nearby playground, we walked (or in Liam's case, hitched a ride yet again-- this time with Julianne!) back to Marc and Cathleen's house.  We couldn't have asked for a nicer day or better company!
