Liam and Joergen were so honored when Aunt Doreen's daughter Krissie and her fiance Dana asked them to be their ring bearers for their wedding (well, Liam was enthusiastic... Joergen just shrugged nonchalantly and said *sure*. We'll take it.).
The weeks leading up to the wedding were a bit stressful (see: reason for buzzed haircuts), but the boys' tuxedo fittings added some much-needed excitement - for me, anyway! I couldn't help but get a little choked seeing my little men in their those tuxes... especially thinking of all the occasions for which they'll wear similar suits in their futures. Dana had let them choose whether they wanted bow ties or neckties... did they even have to ask?!

The big wedding weekend finally arrived! It started with the rehearsal on Friday night:

They did such a great job in practice, and I think it helped them work out any jitters.
After the rehearsal, Aunt Doreen and Uncle Sam hosted an enormous Italian feast at their house. It was the perfect kick-off to the wedding celebration!
On Saturday afternoon after spending some quality time jumping in leaves, the boys donned their tuxes and headed to Aunt Doreen's to "help" the girls get ready and take some pre-wedding photos. When Liam and Joergen walked in the door, everyone freaked out over those handsome little guys in their wedding attire (seriously- you could hear the shrieking from down the street!). Liam ran right into the chaos and reveled in every moment, while Joergen turned around and walked right back out the door. When everyone promised to keep their cool, J agreed to return :)

Aunt Doreen made the ring bearer pillows herself, using her own wedding dress and Krissie's christening gown. They were gorgeous! And yes, those are the REAL rings tied onto those pillows. Brave, brave Krissie!

When it was time for the party to start, the DJ introduced Liam and Joergen and brought them into the reception to the Notre Dame Fight Song. That's my boys! Then the bride and groom had their first dance.

A couple of weeks before the wedding, Kristen and Dana asked Liam if he would be willing to offer grace before dinner. Seeing as how he regularly leads MDP in prayer these days, he eagerly said yes (and later told me, "Mom, if the bride asks you to do something, you literally have to do it." This is good for him to understand at an early age, and will serve him well when he gets married some day!). He carefully worked with me on writing out his blessing, and although he was more nervous than I think I'd ever seen him be before, he stepped up to that mic and said that sweet blessing with poise and confidence.
And then, with all the obligations and duties behind the, it was time to let loose a little and party!

While Joergen was generally the king of the dance floor that night, it had also been quite the long day for him. We cut him a break with a little screen time :)
