We were SO excited and ready for summer to finally arrive, so we decided to be all patriotic and festive by spending Memorial Day weekend with Nana and Grandpa in Alexandria, VA. It had been 5 years to the date since
we had last been in Alexandria. This would be Joergen's first trip, and Liam's first that he would be able to actually remember.
The highlight of the weekend was most definitely going back to
Wolf Trap to see a live taping of
A Prairie Home Companion. I grew up listening to the show with my parents, so to be able to now introduce Liam and Joergen to the man in the red shoes - and have them love it! - was just the best. And really, what better way to enjoy the show than to be outside in warm weather with a picnic dinner and a glass of wine?!

One of my favorite things about the show on Memorial weekend is how they always end it with a patriotic sing-along. It may sound hokey, but it really is awesome.
After a great show, we spent the following day down in DC exploring the
Air and Space Museum. It was a little hotter out and the lines were long, but it was definitely worth it!

As we were heading back to the train station after our museum visit, we couldn't resist a stop on the carousel by the National Mall.
And
then it was back to Alexandria we go :)
Thanks for a very fun weekend, Nana and Grandpa!!
