Softball Season 2014

The 2014 softball season was the longest short season ever.  We weren't particularly good (hence the short season), but we relatively speaking, we also weren't too bad... which led to a lot of battling-it-out-to-the-end tie games called due to darkness, which then had to be replayed later in the season.  At which point, we generally lost.  We often struggled to field a team, so I probably played more softball this season than I had in the 4 previous combined.  Might I add that the average age of our team is solidly 10+ years over most of our competition, and, well... we ain't gettin' any younger!

But speaking of youth, Liam and Joergen held on to their spot as the best bat boys in the league, and were true champs in keeping busy (and keeping things interesting) on the sidelines while we played.  Joergen was generally fine as long as he had a pile of dirt to push around, and Liam just needed a warm body to pitch to him.

We may not be a big team, or even a great one... but we do look out for and take care of each other.  Like when Ed pulled his hamstring and needed some help getting to his car:

Joergen had a notable win this season... his first conquest from the claw game at Screwballs!  He borrowed a buck from us, and the next thing I knew, he was running full tilt back to our table, triumphantly waving his prize.  Way to go, buddy!!

(he later declared the thing "creepy" and has since donated it...)

Aunt Doreen got the boys their very own Screwballs jerseys this year, which they wore with great pride at every game.  I can't believe how fast these two are growing!

Hoping that the off-season brings us more recruits and a healthier team for 2015!
