Joergen's 1st Trip to Milford

It only took us 8 months, but we finally got little Joergen to Milford!  We went for a long weekend last week and enjoyed a few days of relaxation and low-key visits with family and friends.  When we rolled into town, we were again overwhelmed with the welcome!  Joergen was excited to see his name in the "big letters" just like Liam's had been for his first visit to Milford too.

Since we arrived on a Thursday, we decided to surprise Grandma at school.  Liam wanted to make sure he was wearing his backpack, just like the big kids!  It was a happy reunion for Liam and Grandma:

And for Joergen and Grandma too!

Grandma put a Milford Bats hat on Liam and took him for a little walk down the hall to see all the big kids (Liam loves big kids!).  It didn't take long for one of the big kids to declare that it was just not fair that Liam got to wear a hat when it is against school policy!  But since he was with the Assistant Principal, we figured he'd get away with it this time :)

While Grandma took Liam around the school, Joergen stayed at her desk and got a little work done:

Grandma's friend Mrs. Schoolman was so nice to lend Liam her son's vast and impressive Thomas the Train collection!  Liam was not the only one who had fun with it, either!

Liam is really into singing songs these days.  Back when we were in the hospital for his breathing problems, I had made up a song about "Thomas the Choo-Choo Train" in an attempt to pull yet another trick out of my proverbial hat to occupy the time and keep him somewhat still.  To my surprise, Liam not only remembered the song but repeats it with gusto on a pretty regular basis-- and having all those trains at Grandma and Papa's house inspired not only many rounds of this song, but variations as well-- including "Thomas the Ketchup Train".  His silly creativity is nothing if not amusing!

On Friday night, the Peoria Derry gang arrived, and it was such an awesome reunion of aunts, uncles, and cousins!

Aidan spent some time hanging with Joergen:

And of course, Liam and Toni were pretty inseparable.  They have such a special bond!

Uncle Andrew got everyone (well, everyone except Papa!) to play a game of charades before bedtime, and it was a riot.s  Liam got really into it and surprised us by actually legitimately playing the game.  He teamed up with Aunt Beth and they did a great job!  He was also a pretty good little guesser, too!

On Saturday morning, Dad cooked up a ginormous stack of pancakes (and we ate every last one!) while we enjoyed a few more hours all together:

After the Peoria family hit the road, we headed over to Sandy and Bob's house for a little QT with Bill, Kristin, and little Owen-- who is not so little any more!  They were so cute taking turns riding this little electric 4-wheeler:

We had so much fun on the trip that the boys got pretty wiped out-- and we found them crashing in a variety of places.  Joergen got a good little nap in Papa's arms early one morning:

I caught Liam passed out on the floor in the living room while watching cartoons:

Even Dad wasn't exempt!  I came barreling down the stairs one evening to relay the amazing (and these days, highly unusual) news that it was 7:34 pm and not one but two Derry boys were sound asleep... only to discover that in fact THREE Derry boys were sound asleep!

Liam especially loved Grandma's stories about Prince Liam and Princess Toni-- and has requested them every day since!

We headed back to Chicago on Monday to start the trek back to Philly.  A trip to Midway would not be complete without a visit with the Blues Brothers.

Thank you, Grandma, Papa, Uncle Andrew, Aunt Beth, and all the cousins for such a great time together!

Unrelated... apparently all Joergen wanted for Christmas was his two front teeth... he finally cut that front right tooth!  Perhaps Santa will bring him the left one in time for Christmas?  :)
