Liam & Friends

First things first-- Welcome Home Uncle Tim!!! We are so happy to have you back in the US safe and sound and can't wait to see you for Thanksgiving!

So Liam was invited to his first birthday party on Saturday and was very excited to attend. (Seriously-- it was the only way to convince him to go down for his nap that day, and when he woke up, he started clapping and cheering in anticipation!)

The birthday boy was Liam's buddy Evan, who lives 3 doors down. He was also happy to see Lucas, who lives next door to Evan and is another little friend. It's so fun to have 3 boys within a few months of age all living so close! Lucas's mommy is from a town not far from Aunt Erin in France, so it's been great to have someone to get toddler traveling tips from.

This picture pretty much sums up the boys that day: Evan and Liam fascinated by balloons, and Lucas just content with the chips.

Great job, fellas!

...or maybe not!

Liam really amazed us with how well he played with the other little boys (it was a time-out free afternoon! Hooray!).

I had a good doctor's appointment last Thursday, and Daddy joined me this morning for our 20-week ultrasound. So happy to report that Baby Derry is looking strong and healthy! I'm feeling pretty good overall; not as tired, but this seems to have been replaced with frequent bouts of motion sickness. Riding in the front seat or back seat makes no difference-- it even happens when I'm driving. Heck, it even happens when I go down the slide at the playground with Liam! Doc said no more slides :( Since driving is unavoidable, I'm trying Sea-Bands to at least get me to work and back in better shape. Hope this works!

Happy Halloween!

Some favorite moments from Halloween 2010...

At Villanova on Friday, on our way to the Greek Life Halloween Party (no, not his first frat party-- it was for kids). Thrilled that Liam not only agreed to put on the costume, but he actually liked it!

"Hold the railing like this, Dad!"

On Sunday evening, getting ready to make the rounds (complete with cute spider trick-or-treat bag from Nana and Grandpa):

Marc helping our orange cat give a treat to his... orange cat:

No, it's not another little trick-or-treater-- it really is just a big stuffed banana.

Liam was so excited to see Miss Doreen and show off his costume. He was especially excited to help Uncle Sam give out candy to all the trick-or-treaters. He learned quickly that for every piece of candy Uncle Sam gave a trick-or-treater, Liam got one for his treat bag too (thanks, Uncle Sam!!). With that compelling reward system, it didn't take long for Liam to station himself at the front screen door and yell "DIDS!!!" (aka "kids!!") to call more trick-or-treaters to the house!

By the end of the night, Liam was one tired but happy little tiger. Now, what to do with all this candy?!

Daddy's Birthday

Dad's 32nd birthday was last Wednesday, but since he has class until after Liam's bedtime on Wednesdays, we had to celebrate (briefly) in the morning. Pretty sure Liam's favorite song is still the Happy Birthday song! Reading the card from Liam together:

Just looked back to the post from Dad's birthday a year ago, and realized that while Liam has changed quite a bit, Dad's tie really has not!

October Fun

Some highlights from October...

Silliness at Pumpkinland with Marc and Cathleen:

Liam scooping out his first pumpkin (from Pumpkinland, of course). I have no idea why we didn't get one last year!

Helping Dad with the last of the guts:

Ta-daa!

On Saturday, Nana and Grandpa came to stay with Liam (thanks guys!!) while Daddy and I went off to see Notre Dame play Navy at the new Giants stadium in NJ. The game was a total disaster, but at least we had a blast tailgating with old friends! Best part-- getting to meet sweet baby James. Congrats Carly and Murph!

Liam "playing" my guitar. Our little August Rush?

Baby 2 is starting to stir-- felt him/her move for the first time last week! First ultrasound coming up on November 8.

Daddy's birthday is tomorrow...!

Columbus Weekend in AC

Mom was at Penn State for a conference all last week, so Daddy played Mr. Mom and held down the fort with the little guy. I missed my boys!! This was about the extent of our interactions:

Don't ya love the footwear?! We've been more or less drowning in all this rain, so a guy has to be prepared, right?

After a week apart and a whole lot of crummy weather, we were excited to get away for a long weekend in Atlantic City with Nana and Grandpa. It had been almost exactly a year since Liam had been there last. What a difference a year makes!! It was surprisingly warm, and we couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather. Liam was totally in his element on the beach, although the water was waaaay too cold. Here he is daring to follow Grandpa into the water:

(Which was shortly followed by Liam falling down in the water and getting completely soaked! Who knew we needed a bathing suit in October?!)

An outfit change later, we hit up the boardwalk for a little walk:

Liam found some "friends" (who he promptly gave hugs to):

So much to do in AC-- what first?! Liam couldn't decide if he wanted to sleep, watch football, go for a walk in his stroller, or go swimming (see outfit below):

Hey, he insisted on this getup! What can I say?! Swimming won out, so we hit up the (fortunately indoor) pool at the resort:

The water was a little chilly there, too, so he hit up the not-very-hot tub with Nana to warm up;

On Monday, we went to Brigantine Beach-- so peaceful and quiet, and a much nicer beach than AC. Liam loved chasing the giant seagulls all over the beach! The seagulls, however, were not to be bullied. While we were down by the water, one actually went through Liam's diaper bag and stole a whole bag of pretzels!

Team Expansion

We are excited to announce that Liam is going to be a big brother!! Yes, he is holding what you think he is (and no, it was not my idea to give it to him. But how priceless is that reaction!).

Baby 2 is due March 29!
